A few weeks ago, League of Legends players were truly amazed when Riot Games updated a series of incredibly high-quality skins like Malphite, Xerath, and Mordekaiser Dark Star along with 2 Legendary skins for their “darling” Lux. Through Lux’s new voice lines in the two new skins, we can clearly see the contrast that Riot creates between the Celestial Council (led by Ashe, the Queen of the Universe) and the Dark Stars (possibly led by Dark Star Thresh).
Many thought these would be updated right when patch 10.6 launched, but that was not the case; Riot saved these quality products for the event named Galaxy, not only adding new skins but also bringing back the One for All mode.

Besides teasing the new event, Riot Games also made some changes regarding the rewards points that players earn after completing matches and missions. Riot Xenogenic, the lead event designer for League of Legends, announced these updates a few hours ago, indicating that the event ticket rewards points will be harder to earn, meaning fewer players will own the Premium skins from this event.

Riot Xenogenic: “TL;DR: In the upcoming Galaxy event, you will take more time to unlock the Premium skins compared to the previous Chaos God Battle and Duel events. We recognized that players buying event tickets did not need to put in much effort to still receive Premium skins, and we want the journey to own this skin to be a bit more challenging in the Galaxy event.
In detail, the reward points for completing matches (win/lose) will decrease; in normal mode (Summoner’s Rift), these points will drop from 12/6 to 10/5, while in ARAM and One for All mode, it will decrease from 8/4 to 6/3.
In the previous event, Daily Wins gave 18 points, and Weekly Wins averaged 28 points (200 points over 7 days). We recorded that players typically achieved 18 Daily Wins and most completed their Weekly Wins.
Finally, a small note: We will reduce the completion requirement for event missions from 20 mission points to 15 mission points, making it much quicker for you to complete missions.”

Perhaps for Riot Games, the Premium skins are of significantly higher quality than regular skins, so players have to put in more effort to grind through the event (or spend more money). After all, most players are currently at home and gaming daily, so playing a few more matches won’t significantly affect the “grind” process.
