The Renowned VCS Streamer Falls for a “Scam” Worth Millions Due to a Familiar Trick
In recent years, high-tech scams have become all too familiar, yet many new victims fall prey each year. Most scammers target older individuals who are not tech-savvy, or busy people who frequently shop online. Recently, a well-known figure in the VCS has become a victim of this scam, namely streamer N.

Specifically, on his personal page, N. reported that he was scammed by a fraudster impersonating a delivery person who requested that he transfer shipping fees. Subsequently, the scammer claimed to have mistakenly sent N. the wrong account number. Soon after, another account contacted N. to assist the “delivery person” in retrieving the mistakenly transferred money.
After continuously pressuring the streamer to carry out numerous money transfers, this account successfully defrauded N. of a total amount reported by the streamer as reaching 22 million VND. Notably, the scammer even displayed a defiant attitude when the streamer threatened to report them to the police.

The VCS Community is Abuzz Over the Streamer’s Incident
Below N.’s post, many comments express sympathy for the streamer’s lost money, but some cannot deny that he was somewhat lacking in vigilance. “The messages were full of typos, and the way of speaking was extremely unprofessional; how did N. not recognize it?”, one comment noted.
Additionally, many people commented that this trick is not new. While simple, it can easily deceive those with certain ordering habits, such as N., who transfers money for the product first and then pays for shipping later. Just a moment of inattention can immediately turn someone into a “prey” for malicious individuals.

The streamer himself has also spoken out to warn the community. Although the lost amount is not insignificant, since the streamer actively transferred the money, it will be very difficult for him to recover the funds. This may also serve as a valuable lesson for both the streamer and the community.
