There are quite a few instances when playing Teamfight Tactics, you will encounter a player with a full 3-star composition that is incredibly strong, and you simply cannot win against them. At that point, most players will blame “luck” saying that the other person was fortunate enough to get 3-star champions, while they were not lucky and thus lost. However, the reality is not necessarily so; one player has discovered a secret that helps players possess more 3-star units just through calculation and understanding of the game.
In the video above, a player with the in-game name Darkhood shared that champions in Teamfight Tactics have a specific unit pool. Each time you roll or refresh champions in the shop, a certain number of champions will be drawn from that unit pool. As long as you can control this, you can find the unit you need quite easily.

Therefore, the way this guy acquires the unit he wants is by purchasing all champions that share the same cost as that unit so that the probability of them appearing in the next refresh will be higher. When the number of remaining champions in a unit pool decreases, the likelihood of them appearing in the next roll will be lower, while the likelihood of other champions with the same cost will be higher with the unit that has been purchased. After obtaining the desired unit, you can sell off all those unnecessary units to recover your gold.

Player Darkhood also shared that the best champion pools to obtain 3-star units are 2 and 3-cost champions, as they have a large number of units (22 and 16 units in a match, respectively) and their power is incredibly disruptive when reaching 3 stars. 4-cost champions are very difficult to get to 3 stars using this method, as you also need to rely on luck; there are only 12 identical 4-cost champions that can appear in a match.
Perhaps for this reason, Shaco, a powerful Assassin unit with a moderate cost of 3 gold, often appears in a state of being “gold plated” at 3 stars?
