Continuing the try-hard journey in the Korean rank, after experiencing the “trick” named TheShy, this time the duo from GAM Esports: Levi and Dia1 had the chance to meet another star – T1’s captain Faker, as opponents.

As two of the best mid-laners in their respective regions, the matchup between Dia1 and Faker attracted an incredibly large audience. Normally, Dia1’s stream only draws a few thousand viewers, but during the stream featuring Faker on the evening of April 12, that number skyrocketed to over 22,000 at its peak, when Dia1 executed a solokill to take down Faker in the mid lane.

Of course, Dia1 is not the first and only player to solokill Faker. To be fair, encountering Faker in ranked matches is no longer the “fear of all opponents” as it used to be, just as Ambition has noted.
Therefore, Dia1’s solokill, in terms of technical expertise, isn’t particularly surprising, but what captivates the audience is witnessing Dia1 – the top mid-laner of VCS, competing against the number one icon of League of Legends worldwide.

Although the ultimate result of the match was a defeat for Dia1 against Faker, the moment the GAM player solokilled Faker holds much more “entertainment” value. Because even though he no longer maintains peak form, a legend will always remain a legend.
As “juniors” and fans of League of Legends, being able to “take down” an idol, an icon like Faker simply brings a tremendous sense of euphoria. Thus, Dia1’s “screaming” in joy, or the sudden spike in his stream viewership just because of Faker, is completely understandable.
