Items are one of the many factors determining a carry’s strength, so to maximize your carry’s power, you should use the most suitable items. Especially if you are a new player and have the following items but are still unsure what to use, you can try picking a few top meta carries and build your team around them.
Here are the recommended items to help you create a “world-class” carry:
Ekko

This is one of the most interesting champions in Teamfight Tactics, simply because whatever item you throw onto Ekko makes him strong. Plus, since Ekko’s skill comes with an attack effect, you can freely get creative with this champion. One of the playstyles pioneered by “Mr. Bull” is Ekko using 3 Statikk Shiv – dealing a lot of damage with about 6 electric shocks, not to mention significantly increasing Ekko’s attack speed.
The basic items suitable for Ekko are Morellonomicon or Red Buff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, and Guardian Angel.
Xin Zhao

Xin Zhao carries often appear in a 4 Guardian 4 Mystic team composition, where players will strive to upgrade Xin Zhao to 3 stars at all costs. To maximize Xin Zhao’s power, the most suitable items for him are Thornmail, Dragon Claw, and Giant Slayer (or Warmog’s Armor). With such an item combo, the only opponent Xin Zhao might fear is Jhin – a champion capable of dealing massive physical damage even without crits.
Vel’Koz

Vel’Koz is often the main carry with enormous damage in the team, whether in a Void or Sorcerer composition, so choosing at least one defensive item will help this champion avoid being “knocked out” while using skills. Suitable items for Vel’Koz include Rabadon’s Deathcap, Archangel’s Staff, and Zhonya’s Hourglass. These items allow Vel’Koz to deal significant damage early on without interruption, taking down many enemies with each skill cast.
Shaco

Shaco is often used in 2 team compositions, 4 Assassins or 6 Shadow, where Shaco can become a carry with extremely high critical damage. And of course, to increase critical damage, Infinity Edge is the most important item. The other 2 items depend on the 2 main “schools”: if you play “all-in”, you can use Rapid Firecannon and Bow of the Green, if you play safely, you will use Bloodthirster and Guardian Angel.
Lulu

As a carry champion not inclined towards high damage, Lulu is nevertheless a champion with top control skills in Teamfight Tactics. The most suitable items for Lulu are Spear of Shojin, Archangel’s Staff, and Chalice of Favor. With these items, as long as you position Lulu correctly, she will hex 2-4 enemies, allowing the team to take them down even before they can use any skills.
Lucian

One of the “cheap” carry champions, but recently Lucian, along with 6 Cybernetic champions, has suddenly climbed to the top of the meta convincingly. The main items for Lucian will be Red Buff, Giant Slayer, and Blade of the Ruined King or Runaan’s Hurricane. In this case, Lucian should be combined with a Gunner champion like Graves or Ezreal at the start to spread the effects evenly across the enemy team.
Kayle

Often used as a main carry in the Blademaster composition or as a secondary carry in the composition with Miss Fortune’s Divine, Kayle should have items like Rapid Firecannon, Guardian Angel, and Infinity Edge to deal early damage from a safe position.
Jhin

Jhin is often the main carry in any team composition that features him, and with the massive damage from his fourth bullet, Infinity Edge is the most suitable item for Jhin. However, if many opponents have Thornmail, Jhin can switch to the item trio of Bow of the Green, Bloodthirster (or Runaan’s Hurricane), and Guardian Angel.
Irelia

Also a main carry in the hottest team composition right now – 6 Cybernetic, the playstyle originating from Korean ranks is to give Irelia the Assassin Talon item to gain 50% attack speed alongside Ekko. The remaining most suitable items are Infinity Edge and Bloodthirster or Guardian Angel.
