Will Valorant Be ‘Dominated’ by CS:GO Players?

No one can deny that there is a wave of former pro players and CS:GO players looking to go pro in Valorant.

Valorant is arguably the hottest name in the FPS gaming community lately, as it is marketed by Riot as the perfect blend of CS:GO and Overwatch. However, unlike its predecessor “hybrid” games, Valorant is truly becoming a sensation as it seems that most players experiencing it come from the CS:GO community. Moreover, Maniac – a former CS:GO pro player (who played for top teams like Titan, LDLC, etc.), recently pointed out aspects of Valorant that CS:GO players will find extremely familiar and accessible.

During a Riot bootcamp, Maniac had the chance to meet and team up in Valorant with many experienced players from various games around the world. After experiencing this game, Maniac confirmed that “Counter-Strike and Valorant are extremely similar.”

According to Maniac, FPS gamers will find it easier to adapt to Valorant, especially Counter-Strike players, since both games share a 5-player team competition mechanism, one side attacking and the other defending, as well as a bomb planting mode. And if you are a long-time CS player looking for something new, Valorant will not disappoint you.

Of course, Maniac’s glowing remarks about Valorant are not baseless, as the global FPS community is witnessing a strong wave of “disgraced” CS:GO players gradually migrating to Valorant in search of new opportunities, instead of “sticking around” to compete with the top CS teams that currently have stability and high performance in tournaments.

reltuC – a former professional CS:GO player who played for CLG shared that he is ready to embark on a new chapter in his gaming career with Valorant. He has been a CS pro player for 10 years, and now is the time to experience something fresh.

Not only is it a lifeline for those CS:GO pro players past their prime, but Valorant is also a promising haven for CS:GO players who have been… banned from competing. Swag – a former CS:GO prodigy from North America who was banned for match-fixing has decided to focus entirely on Valorant. Recently, swag along with his teammates Shroud, Skadoodle, Hiko, and AZK also clinched a championship in a Valorant tournament organized by 100Thieves.

Of course, it is very difficult for Valorant to replace Counter-Strike, but the similarities and unique attractions of this game are becoming the perfect haven for CS:GO players wanting to experience something new. Valorant will open a new chapter for many former CS:GO pro players who can no longer compete in the old game, or in other words, it is very likely that this new game will be ‘dominated’ by CS:GO players transitioning over.
