Doinb Makes a “Brutal” Statement to LPL Fans
Before the LPL 2025 Split 1 commenced, many fans in the region believed that the “super team” IG was heavily favored by being placed in a relatively easy group. In fact, IG supporters were confident they would achieve a perfect record to advance past the group stage. However, the reality proved to be much tougher for IG, as they recently suffered a disappointing 1-3 defeat to Doinb’s NIP. Even highly anticipated stars like Rookie and TheShy performed extremely poorly in this match, heightening the disappointment.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Doinb shone brightly with his “unusual” champion picks, leading NIP to victory. Unique selections like Ryze and even Lee Sin in the mid lane proved extremely effective under Doinb’s guidance, allowing NIP to consistently gain the upper hand in crucial team fights. However, this victory didn’t fully bring Doinb joy, as he expressed that it was a sign of the relatively poor state of LPL.

“My returning after a two-year break and still winning is actually not a good thing. The reason is that after two years, there haven’t been any new stars in the mid lane of LPL. During scrims, I feel my own strength and that of my opponents remains the same; everyone is stuck in something. Therefore, I believe the hopes for LPL at this year’s Worlds are relatively low if this situation continues. Nevertheless, my teammates and I will still celebrate after defeating a strong opponent like IG” – Doinb shared.
LPL Fans May Be “Heartbroken” But Still Agree with Doinb
Following the widespread sharing of Doinb’s interview, it sparked lively discussions within the LPL community. Many viewers agreed that it was a “harsh truth” and that Doinb was very brave to express his thoughts. In fact, several fans even suggested that the talent shortage in LPL is not limited to just the mid lane.

Indeed, looking back at the current LPL players, the closest to being considered a “superstar” is Knight, who has also been playing for six years. Meanwhile, other potential young players like Sheer and Milkyway have gradually faded over time and failed to rise to stardom. As Doinb mentioned, when he returned to compete after two years, the old opponents were still there, causing LPL to be stuck and find it hard to develop.

Since EDG won the 2021 Worlds, the LPL region has appeared to be completely outmatched by the LCK in the prestigious League of Legends tournament. They may boast all-star lineups, reach the finals, but still cannot clinch the championship as the aging stars lack sufficient successors. With the 2025 rosters of LPL teams being “locked in” and lacking exceptional young talent, it wouldn’t be surprising if they continue to falter this season.
