Ahead of the LCK Finals – Gen.G is ‘boasting hard’, T1’s captain promises the team will secure another Cup

The epic showdown between the two strongest forces in League of Legends Korea, Gen.G and T1, is just around the corner.

It has been quite a long time since the LCK had such an exciting finals like the upcoming clash between Gen.G and T1. Last year, the young squad named Griffin choked hard in both finals, allowing Faker and his teammates to quickly secure two championships. This year is different as Gen.G boasts a lineup of high-quality players with extensive competitive experience, promising to be a true rival to T1.

Ahead of the finals, both coaches of Gen.G and T1 had interviews with the media, and the common goal for both teams is, of course, the championship. Notably, Gen.G’s coach Edgar showed immense determination, even boasting a bit by declaring that he and his students would prove that T1 can be defeated.

This determination can be understood given that Gen.G had a disastrous year in 2019, playing poorly and failing to reach the World Championship. Therefore, the moment Gen.G secured the top spot in the LCK standings was incredibly special for the team’s players, especially for Ruler and Coach Edgar – “When Ruler cried, I almost shed tears too; those were tears of joy knowing we secured the number one position after winning a match we thought we would definitely lose,” shared Gen.G’s captain.

As for their opponent T1, Coach Edgar mentioned that he anticipated the outcome of their victory over DragonX – “I think if DRX won the first game against T1, it would have been more interesting; however, I still guessed that T1 would win. Honestly, I prefer that outcome more; it gives us the opportunity to prove that T1 is not invincible by defeating them.” Perhaps having faced T1 twice at the World Championships in 2016 and 2017, Coach Edgar has never stopped wanting to take down this team.

Meanwhile, T1’s Coach Kim appeared more humble, showing great respect towards Gen.G – “They are a very strong team, so winning against them won’t be easy. In both matches during the group stage, we had to work hard to win against them. I believe the upcoming match won’t be one-sided; regardless of the outcome, it will be intense games.”

According to T1’s captain, the key to the next match will be the coordination between the jungle and mid duo of both sides, and he has full confidence in his players, especially in Teddy being able to win lanes against anyone. Regarding emotions before the finals, Coach Kim modestly promised to do his best – “This will be my first finals as T1’s coach. When I came here, the team already had many titles, and I will do my utmost to bring another cup to the collection.”

Throughout the group stage, Gen.G and T1 have been neck and neck, with the top position only being determined in the final matches. This shows that both are extremely strong teams and can compete evenly with each other; indeed, T1 won against Gen.G in both group stage matches, but now that they have reached the finals, anything can happen. Both sides have strong rosters, but the championship of the LCK Spring 2020 will only belong to the winning team.
