From the moment he appeared, Sett has always been an extremely strong champion in the solo lane with his powerful dueling ability and robust champion qualities. However, after a period of continuous nerfs from Riot Games, Sett has become significantly weaker compared to before, especially in terms of damage after his W – Haymaker was nerfed a few patches ago. Despite this, Sett’s skill set remains highly versatile, leading professional players to discover a new way to play him – as Support.

As of now, Sett Support has been picked 75 times in tournaments, with 20 times in the LPL, 11 times in the LCK, and 8 times in the LEC, the most challenging arenas in League of Legends. He even boasts a 52% win rate despite being considered an unconventional pick. This shows that Sett is extremely strong in this new role, possessing a champion quality that is far superior in the bot lane with greater damage than other tanky Supports while maintaining a high level of versatility.
The most annoying aspect of Sett is the massive shield from his W – Haymaker; this ability allows him to absorb a significant amount of damage even with a modest item build. Furthermore, professional teams particularly enjoy diving towers early to eliminate opponent resources, and Sett is perfect for this playstyle as he can take a few hits from the tower for his teammates without dying, not to mention the substantial true damage he deals even in the Support role.

So, what do we need to do to maximize Sett Support’s strength in solo queue? The answer is to build appropriate items and runes for this role, rather than taking Conqueror and playing like a secondary Fighter, which is a mistake many players make.
In terms of runes, there are two main playstyles for Sett Support: Aftershock and Omnistone. With Sett Aftershock, your sole mission is to tank for your teammates as much as possible; this rune setup allows you to stay alive for a long time in team fights. Combined with item builds like Knight’s Vow and Stoneplate, Sett becomes a massive guardian shielding his teammates from danger.

Sett Omnistone is a bit more special as this playstyle is applied when you are paired with Senna. The operation of this duo is quite similar to Senna – Tahm Kench, where the Support still farms primarily, and Senna is responsible for poking and collecting souls during the laning phase. With farming and having more items, Sett can utilize the rune points generated from Omnistone to deal significant damage.

Sett’s laning phase revolves around using the minion wave to find opportunities to stun opponents; with the shields from W, you will find it hard to lose trades whenever you exchange abilities. In team fight scenarios, your task remains to soak damage and protect allies; don’t be too greedy with your ultimate to deal damage; save that skill to counter the threats coming towards your team’s marksman.
With a simple skill set, easy to play and extremely strong, Sett is the perfect champion if you happen to be assigned to the Support role when searching for a match.
