Flash is perhaps the most popular summoner spell in League of Legends as it suits most champions and positions in the game. There’s even a concept that in League of Legends, there are only two types of players: those who use Flash on D and those who use Flash on F. The debate over the correct usage of this spell has been simmering in the community, just waiting to explode.

Recently, Team Liquid’s jungler – Broxah stirred up the community by claiming that using Flash on D is the correct way, while using F is for “noobs.”
A gamer commented on the stream: “Wow, I just realized Broxah uses Flash on D.”
Broxah: “Alright, we have pineapple on pizza, and now a billion viewers triggered because I use Flash on D. Let me tell you, all of you using Flash on F are noobs and need to switch to D to become better players. Like in this match, both top laners are Iron rank (because they both use Flash on F), the jungle and mid are even, and the ADC is extremely imbalanced because Jhin on my team uses Flash on D while the opponent uses F, so the bot lane auto wins.”
I simply win the game at this point because I have more people using Flash on D.”

As soon as this clip was posted on Reddit, the community erupted once again in debate over which key to use for Flash. The most supported opinion from the Flash – F camp is that since Faker uses F, it must be correct. Additionally, many gamers shared their very unique keybind setups to throw in some spice to the debate between the two factions.

Faker said that if you use Flash on D, you are Silver rank.
Funny enough, I’m currently Gold 4.
Faker might be regretting that.
F is for using Flash, D is for don’t put Flash there.
I think most of this controversy comes from Faker. People often mimic everything he does, including his settings. I think Koreans tend to follow what LCK players do more than players from other regions. That’s why Korean solo queue ranks closely resemble the LCK meta or why windowed mode is very popular.

They (Broxah’s team) won that match, Jayce fed 0-10, so it can be said that Broxah was right.
Science has proven it, Flash on D is the correct way to use it.

I use E for mine.
I just realized that Vayne players have an unused hotkey and can set Flash to W.
I set mine to C.
And I set Flash to a small button on my mouse.

Perhaps the debate over which key to use for Flash will never end. Even Faker himself later clarified that where to place this summoner spell is entirely up to personal preference and habits, and does not determine a player’s skill level. Broxah’s statement might just be a troll comment in response to someone judging his keybind setup. For gamers, it really doesn’t matter which key they use, as long as they feel comfortable with it.
