In the recent LCK Spring Finals 2020, T1 President – Joe Marsh stirred up quite a storm after criticizing the LCK organizers and Riot Games Korea, calling the situation a “farce” after T1 was penalized with two bans in the first game against Gen.G for arriving late to the venue.

Although the “penalty” seems quite harsh given the importance of a finals match, T1 still managed to easily secure a 3-0 victory due to their superior skill, and thus the incident faded into oblivion.
However, the criticisms aimed at Riot Korea by President Joe Marsh are indeed noteworthy. Especially since the reason for T1’s late arrival was determined not to be the fault of the organizers. Recently, this president has publicly apologized to Riot Korea for his thoughtless remarks regarding the aforementioned incident:

“In the spirit of celebrating T1’s 9th LCK championship, I want to take a moment to clarify the incident regarding my team’s punishment of two bans in Game 1 of the finals due to arriving late to the venue.
I truly misunderstood the information and regulations of the LCK finals, and based on these rules, it was clear that we arrived late. Therefore, I want to apologize to Riot Korea, the LCK organizers, and the fans for my comments before that match.
I now realize that my statements were completely misguided and that the penalty imposed by Riot Korea was entirely appropriate according to the tournament regulations.
After speaking with a representative from Riot, I was also pleased to learn that there will be plans to review and amend these regulations in the future to maintain fair competition for all teams.”
President Joe Marsh’s apology can also be seen as the end of the matter; however, some League of Legends fans still took the opportunity to “mock” the head of T1 for this “mistake,” questioning, “If T1 had lost, would he have been able to apologize sincerely like this or would he have found excuses to blame others?” or “Winning gives him the right to say anything.”
As we know, in the recent LCK Spring Finals 2020, despite losing two bans in Game 1, T1 still easily defeated Gen.G Esports with a score of 3-0 and crowned champions of League of Legends Korea for the 9th time.
