When it comes to the most famous streamers of the game League of Legends in Vietnam recently, one cannot overlook Dragon B. From an unknown streamer, thanks to the champion Aurelion Sol and extremely challenging tasks on his livestream channel, Dragon B has become one of the most famous Boy 1 Champ in the community.
Always smiling, friendly, attracting thousands of viewers every time he goes live, however, not everyone knows that behind the bright lights of a hot streamer, Dragon B is the shadow of a boy named Trần Khang Trung with a turbulent childhood.
Born in 1998 and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Dragon B’s family background was not as fortunate as many peers. More sadly, due to financial conflicts, Dragon B’s parents separated when he was still in elementary school, and the boy, not even 6 years old, had to live with his grandmother.
“In my childhood, every time I received good grades, I didn’t know who to share it with, and when I was bullied, I had no one to talk to. My grandmother was old and had to support my education, so I didn’t want to bother her. Therefore, every time I had something to share, I could only keep it to myself.” – Dragon B opened up with a sad smile.
Throughout his childhood until he reached adulthood, the number of times Dragon B met his parents could be counted on one hand. He sadly shared: “Even now, the image of my parents is so faded that I can hardly recognize them, I can only imagine through photographs, the nurturing love, I give all to my grandmother.”
This created a quiet, reserved boy named Khang Trung who tended to isolate himself from society. The only joy Trung had at that time was gaming; most of this elementary school student’s time was spent on it. “I found a new joy in gaming, but I had to listen to many negative rumors from neighbors. Many people said I was a junkie, a failure, and that no one should follow my example.”
The more this happened, the more closed Dragon B’s life became. The only thing that accompanied him throughout his childhood was gaming. At one point, Dragon B even felt constantly sad, tired, gradually approaching a state of emptiness, despair, disappointment in himself, and was very easily provoked; these were the first signs of depression.
It wasn’t until he came into contact with the game League of Legends in 2013 and witnessed gamers and streamers becoming famous and admired through gaming that Dragon B began to nurture his love and dream of success with this game. However, it wasn’t until Aurelion Sol appeared and Dragon B joined Box Studio – home to many of the best Boy 1 Champs in Vietnam – that this dream became a reality.
Thanks to a series of seemingly impossible challenges like winning 150 games, climbing from Iron to Challenger in 10 days, breaking the world record of 120 games, Dragon B made a big splash and gained a special place in the hearts of League of Legends fans. Currently, not only does he challenge himself in the Vietnamese server, but Dragon B also brings “The Evil Dragon” to compete in foreign lands in the Chinese and Korean servers.
“Alongside my desire to become a streamer like Teacher Ba, a part of my rebellious spirit also wants to contribute my small efforts to change the Vietnamese gaming scene, bringing it to the level of countries like South Korea or China. That is also part of the reason why I ‘dared’ to undertake such challenges. Currently, my viewership includes many audiences from all over the world. I want to prove to them that the skills of Vietnamese gamers are second to none.” – Dragon B shared.
From a boy who was abandoned and almost fell into depression, thanks to the game League of Legends, Dragon B suddenly became a name that cannot be overlooked when talking about famous Boy 1 Champs not only in Vietnam but also globally.
When asked if now, with a good income and fame, he would like to reunite with his parents, Dragon B smiled sadly and said: “My parents now each have their own families and happiness, perhaps I shouldn’t disturb them anymore…”
The story of Dragon B is still ongoing, but what League of Legends has brought to this young man has been and continues to be an inspiration for countless Vietnamese gamers. May Dragon B’s youthful dreams truly come to fruition and bring glory to the country on the international stage.
