Gen.G Coach Points Out the ‘Hunter’ After Losing to T1
The highlight of Week 3 of the LCK Cup 2025 was none other than the intense clash between Gen.G and T1. Although both teams had secured their spots for the next round, their long-standing rivalry promised a thrilling showdown. In reality, this was the case as Gen.G and T1 were extremely evenly matched for most of the game. T1 could only claim victory after maximizing Gen.G’s mistake during the Atakhan skirmish.

It seems that Gen.G mishandled this situation so poorly that many viewers believe it was the main reason for their defeat against T1. However, in a post-match interview, Gen.G Coach Kim had a completely different perspective. In fact, the “captain” of Gen.G pointed out that Canyon was the true “hunter” responsible for the team’s loss due to an overly risky play at the start of Game 3.

“Of course, I am disappointed that Gen.G lost this important match. Our solo lane positions should have executed a much stronger snowball strategy than what happened. However, Canyon’s mistake at the beginning of the game when he unsuccessfully attempted to steal T1’s bird camp completely ruined everything. The failed skirmish at Atakhan was just a consequence of the series of mistakes we made beforehand,” Coach Kim candidly shared.

Gen.G Needs to Improve Significantly After Losing to T1
Since joining Gen.G, Canyon has always been viewed as a stable performer, even being the “carry” in many matches. However, this player’s critical mistakes in the recent match had a significant negative impact on Gen.G, with the most noticeable consequence being their loss to T1. Clearly, when a reputable name like Canyon starts making serious errors, fans have the right to question Gen.G’s strength.

It should be noted that in the LCK Cup 2025, Gen.G has not shown the dominating face they had in previous seasons. For example, they suffered a rather “weak” loss to BRO in Week 2, even though this was considered a weaker opponent compared to Gen.G. Therefore, this team needs to improve significantly in both player performance and teamfight coordination to return to the image of a dominant Gen.G in the LCK. With a second-place finish in the Dragon of Eternal Youth group, Gen.G will have two weeks to rest and prepare. Hopefully, they will optimally utilize this time to come back stronger in the future.
