The VCSxPCS friendly tournament officially kicked off today, May 27. After a delay due to connectivity issues, the most anticipated match of the day between Team Flash – the reigning champion of VCS Spring 2020 and Talon Esports – the reigning champion of PCS Spring 2020 finally took place.
However, contrary to fans’ expectations, the match unfolded quickly with a decisive victory for the PCS representative.
Although Team Flash gained some advantages in the early game, they failed to capitalize on the opportunity to take the lead. The choice of a lineup lacking effective initiation tools left FL gradually cornered and continuously pressured by TLN.
As the game progressed, during the team fights and map control phases, FL’s composition, which was both weak in combat and lacking mobility, became an easy target for Thresh in the hands of veteran Support player Kaiwing, who showcased his skills with many clutch plays, causing the match to slip completely out of Slayder and his teammates’ hands.

At the end of the match, FL’s “Dream Team” suffered a heavy defeat just 26 minutes into the game, with a kill score of 22-3 in favor of Talon Esports, while the gold difference reached 13k.
In reality, this is not necessarily a record for score difference, but in a match between the reigning champions of each region, this result is truly a strong blow to the pride of the VCS region, as it raises the question of whether the gap in skill between Vietnamese teams and the former Taiwan-Hong Kong-Macau region is still very distant.

In the next match, GAM Esports, despite a more promising performance, still could not create any surprises against Machi Esports – the runner-up team of PCS. After the first round of matchups between the two regions, VCS faced a thoroughly decisive defeat.
