After GAM Esports was eliminated early from the group stage, Team Flash became the last hope for VCS in the Mid-Season Showdown 2020 – VCSxPCS. Facing the representative from PCS – Machi Esports, the reigning VCS champions encountered a fairly challenging Bo5 matchup.
Nevertheless, with a steady mindset and a bit of luck, Slayder and his teammates successfully secured their spot in the finals to face Talon Esports, after a 3-1 victory over Machi.
Key moments of the match:
After the group stage, Team Flash and Machi Esports were considered to have comparable skill levels, both temporarily “undecided” with one victory and one defeat against each other.
In fact, looking at the overall standings, Machi was even rated higher than FL, having secured four wins in the group stage, while Flash only won two. In the first game, MCX also showcased their superiority by winning and taking the lead.

However, Flash proved to the PCS representative that the reigning champions of Vietnam are not an easy opponent to handle. To be fair, FL didn’t perform exceptionally well in this Bo5 matchup, but their confident mindset, proactive strategies, and a bit of luck helped them gain numerous advantages in crucial team fights.
The initial advantage of winning one game quickly disappeared, and FL swiftly achieved victories in all three subsequent games to complete their comeback, securing a spot in the Mid-Season Showdown 2020 finals.

After somewhat disappointing performances in the group stage, VCS fans were concerned about a scenario where the Vietnamese League of Legends representatives would be completely outmatched by the two Taiwanese teams, but Team Flash’s victory somewhat restored faith within the gaming community.
Although the finals will be an extremely tough challenge, as Talon Esports is a much stronger opponent compared to Machi, having a slot in the top 2 teams of the tournament is enough to demonstrate that VCS, despite still lagging behind the Taiwanese in terms of skill, is still ready to create surprises in these brain-busting clashes.
