Although Teamfight Tactics provides players with quite healthy entertainment moments, very few players are “toxic” since it is a personal game and rarely involves direct 1v1 combat. However, many “players” in this mode still have a number of bad habits that are hard to shake off.
Here are some of those bad habits:
Comparing Team Composition ABC to Team Composition XYZ
Most players feel “amazing” after a thrilling match and achieving top 1. Therefore, many cannot contain their excitement and share their joy on forums or social media. However, that joy will vanish when someone comments something like, “Team composition ABC would lose to team composition XYZ in a heartbeat…”.

It’s true that most compositions in Teamfight Tactics have certain counters, but in that match, in that moment, that top 1 position cannot be disputed; the winner is undeniably the strongest player of that match. Therefore, many believe that comparing these compositions at that time is unnecessary and does not reflect anything.
“Locking Champions”
“Locking champions” refers to buying a particular champion to reduce the appearance rate of that champion, making it harder for another player to roll for that champion. The important thing is that when you “lock a champion,” you will also spend a lot of gold and slots in the bench. Therefore, unless you are “locking a champion” to prevent someone from getting a 3-star champion like Vel’Koz, Irelia, Jhin,… this harmful behavior should really be avoided.
Just One More Roll
In situations where you have enough gold for one roll without affecting your income, such as 2 gold, 22 gold, 52 gold,… many players may feel “itchy” and roll once. However, if you don’t have any champions to sell, rolling will leave you without enough gold to buy champions, or you’ll lose income after rolling and buying champions. Therefore, if you determine you can’t buy, it’s best not to roll.
Picking Up Items to… Tease Others
In shopping rounds, most hot items will be picked up first by players with low health. However, many players do not pick up items immediately when it’s their turn; they choose to tease opponents by running close to the item they want and picking it up just as someone approaches.

Playing the “Same Old Way”
Many players feel quite “invincible” after playing a particular composition and winning top 1 overwhelmingly. However, this does not mean that this composition will continue to be “invincible” in the next match unless you have “extreme luck.” Therefore, if you keep playing the same composition repeatedly, you may still achieve top 1, but it’s often “top 1 from the bottom up.”

Being Lazy About Meta Updates
You need to understand the strong compositions in the meta to use or counter them.
Many players choose to explore new metas right in their ranked matches, being lazy about following meta information on news sites. This will significantly impact your rank if you cannot build a composition around the strong playstyles in the meta.

Self-Congratulatory Questions
Many players ask quite “random” questions like: “Why am I in Gold rank but facing all Diamonds…?” The answer to these questions is quite simple: you have a very high win rate, and your hidden elo is higher, so you are matched with players of much higher ranks than usual. Therefore, many players ask these questions primarily to… boast about their high win rate.
