T1’s Loss Fuels Controversy Surrounding LCK Cup 2025
Recently, T1 suffered a major defeat against Hanwha Life Esports, marking the end of their journey in the LCK Cup 2025. This unfortunate loss came despite both teams performing at a very high level. It also means T1 has missed the opportunity to participate in the First Stand by Riot—a newly established tournament for the biggest regions in the League of Legends scene. However, this has sparked a lot of controversy.

The controversy began when some T1 fans claimed this was merely a warm-up tournament, a “test of the Fearless Draft mode,” and that the more important goal is the Regular Seasons, which will take place after the LCK Cup 2025 concludes. Naturally, this made fans of other teams, especially those performing well in the LCK Cup 2025, quite upset.

According to fans of these other teams, a loss is still a loss and the LCK Cup 2025 is still a noteworthy tournament. However, many fans have confused the format of the new tournament and even suggested that T1 has lost the chance to attend MSI 2025.
In reality, the LCK Cup 2025 can be seen as a warm-up tournament, truly allowing teams to experiment with different strategies and giving young players the chance to experience the LCK atmosphere, such as LazyFeel and Smash.

Moreover, Fearless Draft is a great opportunity to attract audience interest, as there have been many opinions stating that the meta has been too boring lately, and it is obvious how teams like T1 and Gen.G will draft.
Additionally, the champion of the LCK Cup 2025, aside from any prize money (if any), will only gain the benefit of participating in Riot’s First Stand and have the opportunity to secure 2 spots directly into the MSI 2025 group stage for their region. Of course, they will still have to participate in the Road to MSI of the LCK this year.

As for T1, the team still retains all opportunities to compete for the LCK championship this year, as well as a spot in MSI and Worlds. This does not mean that the LCK Cup 2025 is unimportant for T1. However, the loss to HLE will essentially provide T1 with valuable data and lessons to prepare better for the Regular Seasons 2025.

T1 Will Always Be in the Spotlight
With the controversy following T1’s loss, it is clear that this team will continue to attract attention, regardless of which tournament they are in. T1’s weaknesses have been clearly highlighted, and they will have time to improve before the more important journey begins.
