Last night – June 18 – the official trailer for VCS Summer 2020 was released, marking a scorching season for League of Legends in Vietnam. Immediately, the images and characters in this video became the center of discussion. It seems that every action and position of the characters in the video has some significance that captures attention.
The trailer begins with the new look of Secret.DNK, the “thief prince” now no longer has the “artistic” appearance with long hair, instead sporting impressive pink hair reminiscent of male movie stars. The image of DNK writing his name by hand seems to signify that it is time for him to carve his name in the history of League of Legends in Vietnam.

Another interesting metaphor is Hasmed from Saigon Buffalo sitting among statues named Bigkoro, Venus, Palette, Naul. They are all tied to the glorious past of the Buffalo organization, but now each has gone their separate ways and are no longer associated with the team, leaving only Hasmed who may be the future of the team.

The image of Levi is extremely ambiguous, the “forest god” of GAM Esports seems to be surrounded by lots of grass, flowers, and even appears to be sleeping on it. This makes viewers inevitably associate him with the “sleeping beauty” image from fairy tales. Is the director implying that Levi is playing too safely and needs to regain his former boldness?

The most striking detail is the scene where Palette burns the “golden rose,” which many believe is a reference to GAM Esports, turning the petals into orange, which is also the color associated with Team Flash’s jersey.

Additionally, standout players like Slayder, Zeros, Divkid, and Artemis also appear in the trailer, promising an exciting VCS Summer ahead. The teams in the VCS had a very lively transfer season, even with blockbuster moves like Zeros joining EVOS Esports, all of which suggest that the upcoming tournament will be extremely thrilling.

VCS Summer 2020 will officially kick off this afternoon (June 19) with two matches: Saigon Buffalo vs OverPower Esports and Team Flash vs Percent Esports.
