One of Faker’s most legendary highlights is the 1v1 Zed duel against Ryu in the Bo5 match between SKT T1 and KT Bullets. Back then, OGN (later known as LCK) had a special rule that the fifth game of a Bo5 would be a blind pick, and both mid-laners would bring out Zed. We probably don’t need to say much about Faker’s extraordinary skill execution in that moment.
That 1v1 solo play catapulted Faker to fame and made him a household name. However, some argue that it wasn’t the pinnacle of Zed skill execution. Recently, streamer Midbeast dug up some VODs from his professional days to showcase to his audience on stream, claiming that he played even better than Faker in that moment. However, “life is not a dream” because the cameraman didn’t even capture that play, and his highlight remains only in his memory.
Streamer Midbeast: “I had an incredible outplay, better than Faker’s in this match. Where is it? The commentator didn’t even mention it? What’s going on, this play was top-notch. My goodness, I was in the bot lane, 1v2 against Graves and Leona, but the cameraman didn’t even bother to capture it. I executed an ultimate on Leona, used W to dodge abilities and took down both champions on the other side.
Until everything was done, I was standing over the corpses of their champions before they finally turned the camera. Well done, cameraman, my goodness.”

There’s a saying that luck is also part of skill, and the fact that Faker’s outplay with Zed was captured on camera is already a stroke of luck. As for Midbeast, we can only sympathize with this unfortunate guy. If his highlight had been aired, who knows, Midbeast might still be competing in League of Legends today. Sometimes, your career depends on the cameraman.
