T1 continues to deliver a “familiar” performance each summer season, suffering another defeat against the newly promoted Team Dynamics. While it’s not surprising that Faker and his teammates are underperforming, the way they lost to DYN is truly worth discussing.
At the 40th minute of game 3, T1 secured a winning team fight at the Dragon pit, taking down 4 members of DYN with a Triple Kill from Teddy. At this moment, Faker’s Lulu and Canna’s Kennen continued to chase Kuzan’s Galio.
However, what both of them didn’t expect was the massive damage output from Galio, as Kuzan surprisingly turned around to counterattack and eliminated full-health Lulu with just one combo, before sending Canna to the death realm as well.
Right at this moment, the camera caught Faker looking very anxious and he almost blurted out “shi…” but managed to hold back and continue communicating with his teammates. In Korean, shi… in shib*l is a quite popular curse, and it seems Faker intended to let that slip after realizing his mistake in chasing Kuzan. The commentators quickly caught this moment, and everyone reacted with delight at his “maintaining composure” reflex.

Nevertheless, Faker’s reaction also shows he is not at all satisfied with his team’s performance. In a recent report released by T1, there’s a captured image of Faker sitting despondently in the LCK waiting room after the recent loss.
Clearly, both Faker and T1 did not desire failure; however, unstable performance and individual mistakes have prevented him and his teammates from achieving the desired results.
