As we all know, Riot Games has officially announced the 150th champion of LoL – Yone, the Unforgotten. The most awaited name of 2020 that has been teased for quite a while. Thus, Yone is the third champion to emerge from a developed character in the lore to become an official champion, following Kai’Sa and Senna.

Before bringing updates to the official server, Riot Games always implements changes on the PBE server for players to test beforehand, and Yone is no exception. Currently, the “reborn spirit” – Yone has been released for testing on the PBE server and has immediately become a sensational hit, overshadowing his younger brother Yasuo. First, to explain Yone’s popularity, let’s take a look at the skills of this “un-counterable” champion.
Passive – The Path of the Hunter:
+ When performing basic attacks, Yone will use two swords in succession, always starting with his normal sword. Attacks from the Demon Sword will deal additional magic damage.
+ Yone’s critical strike chance is doubled, but critical damage is reduced.
Q Skill – Death Sword
When activated, Yone will thrust his sword in the designated direction, dealing physical damage and gaining a stack of Gathering Storm if it hits an enemy.
With two stacks of Gathering Storm, Yone can dash forward, dealing damage and creating a gust of wind that knocks up all enemies hit. This skill will interrupt normal attack animations when activated.

W Skill – Soul Reap
After casting, Yone will use the Demon Sword to slash in a crescent shape in the designated direction, dealing magic damage based on a percentage of the target’s maximum health and gaining a temporary shield.
The more enemy champions hit, the larger the shield Yone receives will be.

E Skill – Soul Exit
When activated, Yone will enter a soul state, dash forward, leaving his body behind. After the soul state ends, Yone will return to the position of his body.
Upon re-entering his body, Yone will deal additional damage based on the amount of damage he has dealt while in the soul state.

Ultimate – Death’s Grasp
After a short casting time, Yone will dash in the designated direction and slash enemies in range. He will appear behind the last enemy hit by the skill.
Enemies hit will be knocked up and pulled towards Yone.

You wonder how hot Yone is right now? In short, on the PBE server, it’s common to have at least 3 people on the team all picking Yone simultaneously, meaning the chance of seeing 4-5 Yones in a match is extremely high. Of course, the battle is now about who locks in the champion the fastest.

With a desire to bring the “soul of the Vietnamese” abroad to play on the PBE server, one gamer spent up to… 4 hours of his life just to successfully play Yone once. Everything that happened before was just picking Yone, quitting, picking Yone again, and then quitting again. There was only 1 Yone but 4-5 people wanting to play him, everyone was eager to test him, so when they couldn’t lock in, they immediately… exited the match. This cycle kept repeating, and even if Yone appeared in the ban phase, players would exit without hesitation.

The disastrous scene of pick, quit, and waiting through the penalty time seemed to have no end until, by some miraculous chance, the player finally got to touch the champion Yone and shared, “the feeling is exhilarating, indescribably uplifting, my friends.” Every move, every gesture, every skill cast of Yone was excitedly analyzed by him, true to the “Vietnamese spirit”.

If the PBE server is like this, then we can’t imagine how fierce and intense the “Yone war” will be when it comes back to Vietnam. Let’s hope this disaster won’t happen:

Yone will be released in version 10.16, along with a set of skins and an exciting event series called Floral Spirit.
