In Teamfight Tactics, there are 2 ways to ensure a good start to the match: having a strong Chosen champion and good items. However, in some matches, you won’t have both of these advantages. Instead, players will receive a few pairs of 1-star champions, gold, and random items. This is a very bad start that players need to find a way to overcome.

One of the ways to “overcome adversity” is to use just 1 champion to win the first 3 monster rounds. This allows players to accumulate enough gold, level up quickly, and use 2 or 3 gold champions to make up for strength in the later stages.
So the question is, which champion can survive the first 3 monster rounds alone? The answer is Tahm Kench. With his Thick Skin passive, Tahm Kench can mitigate a lot of damage and endure long enough in the first 3 monster rounds.

According to expert tests, as long as you don’t hold the Tear of the Goddess, Silver Cloak, or Giant’s Pick, a 1-star Tahm Kench can survive all 3 monster rounds with any items. The placement of Tahm Kench is also very important; you must place him in the second row, second square from the right to achieve this. Arranging like this will help Tahm Kench not take too much damage from the minions on the left.

Of course, you don’t have to use Tahm Kench in every match to apply this strategy. Indeed, you have to be very “unlucky” to need to use this method, but as long as you survive the first 2 monster rounds, you will have enough level and decent champions in your lineup.
Other champions (not counting Tahm Kench) that can survive the first 2 monster rounds alone include:
Garen (needs a Giant’s Belt or Chain Vest).
Diana.
Maokai (needs a Giant’s Belt).
Wukong (needs a Giant’s Belt, B.F. Sword, or Chain Vest).

Twisted Fate (needs a Giant’s Belt or Chain Vest).
Lissandra.
Yasuo.
Elise.

This little tip will help Teamfight Tactics players overcome a tough start and accumulate a significant amount of gold in the mid-game.
