In version 11.4, Riot Games heavily nerfed numerous 1-cost champions, making hyper-roll playstyle less popular. One of the few 1-cost champions not nerfed in this “deadly” patch is Tristana. Therefore, applying the hyper-roll strategy and pushing this unit to 3 stars is completely feasible. In fact, a player with the in-game name TFT Hong managed to climb to Grandmaster just by using the hyper-roll Tristana composition.

The first strength of this composition is that it is not contested by other players. This is because Tristana is not necessarily a key unit in many hot compositions and is not frequently purchased. Additionally, you will complete the core champions of the hyper-roll Tristana team by level 6. Thus, Teamfight Tactics players will have many options to boost their strength in the late game, rather than relying too much on a few 4-5 cost champions.

With the inherent nature of a hyper-roll composition, players will not purchase experience in the early game. You will stay at levels 3-4-5 as long as possible to maximize the appearance rate of Tristana. One note for players is that you should not buy Nidalee, even if this unit is in the Chosen form. This unit has become too weak after being heavily nerfed, so there is no reason for players to buy Nidalee.
If you have the Chosen Tristana with Sniper trait, this is the perfect start. In the case that Tristana appears with the Chosen Dragon trait, you should also buy this unit because the Dragon trait proves to be very strong in the early game. Spirit units like Teemo and Diana are also champions players should acquire to enhance attack speed.

By the mid-game, you should aim to complete the 4 Spirit trait as soon as possible. This will greatly increase your core champion’s attack speed and deal a lot of damage. Sivir is also an extremely strong unit worth purchasing in the mid-game.

By the late game, you should find ways to secure your backline. The duo of Aatrox and Sejuani, with their strong crowd control, is the top choice for tanks. You can also place Sand Soldiers (when using Azir) in the front line if you cannot upgrade those two Vanguard units. If you are lacking in damage, leveling up to level 9 or adding Samira to your composition becomes necessary.

In the case you have the Chosen Tristana with Dragon trait, players should switch to using Bloodsucker units at level 9. In that case, you will aim to upgrade Swain to 2 stars and equip this unit with defensive items. The goal is to create a strong enough shield while also boosting your team’s damage.

Regarding item construction, Rapid Firecannon and Quicksilver are the two most important items for Tristana. They help this champion deal a lot of damage and ensure that Tristana will not be crowd-controlled at the start of the round. For the final item, options like Infinity Edge, Deathblade, or Hand of Justice are choices that players should consider.
