Warmog’s Armor
If you remember, Warmog’s Armor used to have an effect that restored 5% of missing health for the champion that equipped it. In cases where the opponent had no way to reduce healing, the champion using Warmog’s Armor would become extremely “tanky” and hard to take down. Riot’s decision was to rework Warmog’s Armor and completely remove that healing passive in patch 10.12. As a result, this item became extremely weak and is no longer prioritized by players early on.

After the rework, Warmog’s Armor only provides 1000 health to the champion. This number sounds large, but it does not grant the equipped champion any strong defensive or offensive effects. Warmog’s Armor doesn’t significantly increase the tankiness of the team composition and has gradually been “left behind” by players. Even when Riot advertised it as a good fit with the Long Tribe in season 4.5, this item still fell into a dire situation.
Spear of Shojin
With the launch of Teamfight Tactics season 4, Riot Games also reworked the Spear of Shojin. Previously, this item would restore 18% of maximum mana with each attack after the champion cast their ability for the first time. After the rework, the Spear of Shojin now only provides 5 mana per attack. This change made it so that very few champions in Teamfight Tactics could utilize the effect of the Spear of Shojin. In the first half of season 4, almost only Jinx was able to effectively use this item.

By the time Jinx was heavily nerfed in patch 10.25 and subsequently removed in the 4.5 update, the Spear of Shojin also disappeared from the meta. With energy restored per attack, the Spear of Shojin is only suitable for champions with high attack speed or those in the Marksman class. However, such champions tend to focus more on pure damage rather than continuous ability use. This has led to the Spear of Shojin becoming extremely “useless” at this point.
Statikk Shiv
Before its rework, Statikk Shiv was a relatively good weapon for countering strong shield formations or building the Iron Solari Chain early on. However, after patch 11.4, the shield counter effect of this item was removed and replaced with a magic resistance reduction ability. This change may sound strong, but in reality, the new effect of Statikk Shiv has very low practical application.

With the magic resistance reduction effect, this item is designed to boost damage for Mage compositions. However, instead of choosing Statikk Shiv, you should consider building items like Blue Buff, Infinity Edge, or Rabadon’s Deathcap, which work better for Mage teams. If you use Statikk Shiv in other team compositions, you won’t be able to utilize the magic resistance reduction effect of this item. Not fitting into the current meta, it’s no surprise that Statikk Shiv has been “left behind” as well.
