If you take the time to watch the champion introduction videos in the League of Legends client, you might feel that something is “off.” This is because many of the champion skill introduction videos in the League of Legends client still use outdated models and skills of characters before they were reworked and visually upgraded. In fact, a champion that was reworked three years ago, like Aatrox, still appears in the League of Legends client with the old model.

This has even become a topic that the League of Legends community uses to mock Riot Games. The peak of this issue was an asynchronous update regarding the champion Akali after she was reworked. Specifically, in Zed’s skill section, Riot used the “new” Akali in the introduction videos for the Q, W, E, R skills but used the “old” Akali model for the passive. Many believed that this outdated client issue would persist indefinitely.

Nevertheless, there’s good news for the League of Legends community as Riot Games plans to rectify this inconsistency soon. Specifically, the Lead Video Producer of League of Legends – Riot EarthSlug, shared on Twitter that they will be updating over 200 clips in the client next month.

Riot EarthSlug: “We realized that many champion skill introduction videos have become outdated. Therefore, we will find ways to replace the outdated videos that the team has identified. Specifically, we will update models for 46 champions in 226 videos.”

A gamer asked: “So when will this upgrade take place?“.
Riot EarthSlug: “We have already started filming the video from this point onward. It’s likely that the team will update those videos in the League of Legends client next month.”

These updates should have ideally been carried out by Riot simultaneously with the upgrade of effects and skills for the champions. Anyway, Riot Games has acknowledged the inconsistencies in their client and is taking steps to update it. We hope that the update mentioned by Riot EarthSlug will go smoothly and not cause any unfortunate issues for the League of Legends client in the future.
