The First Stand Tournament Has Sparked Controversy in the League of Legends Community
Recently, the first international tournament of 2025 – First Stand 2025 officially kicked off with results that were unsurprising to many, as the higher-rated teams had a successful debut. However, another factor has frustrated the League of Legends community. This is the new HUD interface that Riot has implemented for this tournament.

Specifically, according to many audience opinions, the new HUD interface is quite cluttered, with important details like minion counts, KDA… being minimized to nearly their maximum extent, making it difficult for viewers to follow the players’ statistics. Additionally, the constant display of the gold difference between two players inadvertently narrows the interface significantly, while this statistic does not need to be observed at all times.

This opinion has also been shared by prominent KOLs in the League of Legends community such as Caedrel and LS. The new HUD interface makes it difficult for these KOLs to position the camera frame correctly while co-streaming without obstructing the viewers’ sight.
However, there are also some opinions that the new HUD helps to make the rest of the frame more spacious, allowing viewers to better follow the in-game activities of the players. Nonetheless, it seems that the adjustment is still quite new, so the audience has not really adapted yet.

The League of Legends Community Hopes Riot Will Optimize the New HUD Better and Implement It Widely in Other Tournaments
A crucial factor is that Riot needs to improve so that the new HUD achieves maximum effectiveness and is widely applied. After all, it would be meaningless if viewers, after getting used to the new HUD in First Stand, had to revert to the old interface in regular tournaments as well as MSI, and the World Championship this year.
