Recently, the organizing committee of the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) announced the postponement of the start date for the VCS Summer 2021 tournament, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City – the location of the tournament and the headquarters of the teams. The specific information is as follows:

“ANNOUNCEMENT
In light of the ongoing complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in many localities; in order to implement the directives of the authorities and relevant agencies, the organizing committee of the VCS – Vietnam Championship Series would like to announce:
– The VCS – Vietnam Championship Series Summer 2021 tournament is temporarily postponed until the pandemic is well controlled in the Ho Chi Minh area.
– We recommend that teams take management measures, regularly monitor the health of players, coaches, etc., and strictly adhere to the government’s and state management agencies’ regulations on pandemic prevention.
Information about the tournament schedule and plans for the VCS will be announced by the organizing committee after updates on the pandemic situation in the organizing area.”
According to a previous announcement, the VCS Summer 2021 was set to kick off on June 24. However, the tournament has now officially been postponed with no confirmed return date, as it depends on the developments of the pandemic.
Previously, the tournament was also scheduled to be held online to prevent the spread of the virus, but even if teams were to compete at the Gaming House, the organizing committee would still have to send personnel to the competition venues for setup, refereeing, etc. This is likely the reason for the tournament’s necessary postponement, as residents in Ho Chi Minh City have been advised to limit travel to prevent the spread of the virus.
