Basically, the changes in Teamfight Tactics with update 11.12 have made the Mutable Zombie easily stuck in the front line. This makes the Zombie trait extremely difficult to play as you have to balance between offensive and defensive items to ensure that the Mutable Zombie is not taken down too quickly. Combined with the reduced match speed and the popular large trait – system thresholds, Zombies are being considered “out meta.”

However, according to statistics from the specialized site Metatft.com, one of the compositions with the highest top 4 rate actually uses the 4 Zombie threshold. In fact, the pick rate of the Zombie – Sorcerer composition is only 0.26, so you can freely build it without worrying about competing for core champions. So how do you build this composition effectively? Let’s find out.

At the beginning of the match, you should start with tank champions like Gragas, Warwick, or Sett. The added health stats of the Brawler system are extremely strong early game, so you will have a solid shield. An optimal choice for the backline would be Kalista combined with any Legion unit like Aatrox, for example. This start will help players maintain the necessary balance in both offense and defense.

Moving into the mid-game, what you need to do now is to reach the 4 Brawler threshold. In the current meta, it is rare for players to reroll at level 6, so you will rarely encounter opponents with too much damage. Therefore, the huge health stats of the 4 Brawler threshold will greatly assist in taking down enemy champions and maintaining health. If you can purchase Ryze or Brand, you should activate the 3 Zombie threshold immediately. If not, you should be satisfied with the 4 Brawler – 2 Legion composition at level 6.

After that, you will need to level up to 7 quickly to add Ryze or Brand to activate the Zombie effect. You need to do this as early as possible to maintain your health and have enough gold to reach level 8. Some compositions using Riven or Yasuo as core champions are very strong at level 7, so the high health from Brawlers alone may not be enough. At that point, the Mutable Zombie will help you supplement both damage and tankiness effectively.

Moving into the late game, it is crucial that you add units with high damage right from the 1-star level, such as Teemo. After that, high-value units like Ivern and Volibear are excellent additions for crowd control. This is also the time when players should sell off unnecessary Brawler units and only keep Nunu & Willump. If possible, you should add Heimerdinger for extra damage.

Regarding equipment building, Infinity Edge and Runaan’s Hurricane are the best items for Kalista. You can also combine Runaan’s Hurricane for Brand and Ryze to boost the damage for the Mutable Zombie. For Teemo, this unit only needs two items to increase energy and skill damage to deal sufficient damage. Items like Shojin’s Spear, Archangel’s Staff, Guardian’s Gauntlet, Rabadon’s Deathcap… are options that players should aim for.
