Six months ago, Udyr won a vote for the champion to be reworked in 2022. Recently, Riot Games announced that the rework project for Udyr has been initiated. With “200 years of experience” in the industry, Riot Games stated their goal is to retain Udyr’s identity as a melee champion reliant on auto-attacks.
Additionally, Udyr’s visual design needs a modern overhaul to align with the current state of League of Legends. The ultimate aim is to make Udyr more popular within the community through both gameplay and storyline related to Freljord.

Regarding the new skill set, Riot Games will revamp them while maintaining 4 core elements, including:
Udyr will have 4 skills and no ultimate ability.
Udyr will not have any ranged skills or dashes, simply because he is a melee warrior.
Udyr can absorb or deal a significant amount of damage, depending on his item build.
Udyr can prioritize leveling different skills to create various gameplay styles.
Based on the video revealed by Riot Games, the new Tiger Stance (Q) will feature area attack capabilities (similar to the old R of Volibear) through lightning strikes.
In addition to providing a shield and healing on the first activation, the Turtle Stance (W) will gain additional healing when activated a second time to create more shields (or healing) based on nearby targets.
The Bear Stance (E) is now a targeted multi-hit skill with relatively high damage.
The Phoenix Stance (R) will have the ability to leave a “fire carpet” similar to the old Shyvana and deal damage over time. When Udyr attacks an enemy affected by the fire carpet, he can stun the target.

In addition to the new skill set, Udyr will have a resource bar below the energy bar. This resource bar will reflect Udyr’s cooldown time (which is still under adjustment).
