Falling Into Your Smile is currently a highly discussed “Esports-themed” drama series that has garnered special attention within the online community in China, and even internationally, in recent times.
However, its appeal does not stem from the quality of the film, engaging content, or any meaningful messages; rather, it is due to a series of dramas exposing both the film and the original novel. Not only does it distort the image of professional Esports players, promoting match-fixing and ruining games, but recently, Falling Into Your Smile was also accused by the author of the song “More” by K/DA—a musical product owned by Riot Games—of plagiarizing up to 90% of this song to create the OST (theme song) for episode 9 of the film.
The author of “More” even provided undeniable evidence by posting a comparison clip of the melodies of the two songs. It is evident that, aside from the introductory music and lyrics, no one can distinguish the differences between these two songs.
In other words,
The League of Legends community in China is currently outraged over the plagiarism scandal, with their exact remarks stating that “even a tone-deaf person would know this is a copy product.” Although Falling Into Your Smile does not explicitly feature any specific Esports scene, it does reuse many details related to League of Legends, including the LPL tournament, and the Team WE players are believed to be the inspiration for the main characters in the film.
Therefore, this film is being called for a boycott by many League of Legends players in China.
