As the VCS still has no set return date, Vietnamese League of Legends fans can only find solace by following the rank climbing progress of the players. Recently, the gaming community discovered that Dia1 – a player from SBTC Esports, changed his nickname on the Korean League of Legends server to “VinhCS”, as a public act of criticism aimed at the former owner of GAM Esports.

The term “VinhCS” began to trend after the VCS organizers announced a one-year ban on Dia1 for violating his contract with GAM and secretly negotiating with SBTC Esports. Although the organizers have affirmed that the matter has been thoroughly investigated, Dia1’s shocking punishment has sparked widespread dissatisfaction among a large number of fans.
Numerous sources have indicated that Mr. V. – the former owner of GAM, had a long tenure in a leadership role within the VCS organizing committee, and many theories suggest that this man used his relationships and influence in the Esports scene to sway the organizers, making decisions and penalties that favored GAM while he still owned the team. As a result, many Vietnamese League of Legends fans have mocked the VCS as “VinhCS” to highlight this individual’s influence.

Those directly involved – specifically the founding members of SBTC and Dia1, have continuously criticized GAM’s former owner – Mr. V., claiming that he “played dirty”, using connections to manipulate the VCS and “crush” other teams for his own benefit. In particular, Teacher Ba affirmed that the contract between SBTC Esports and Dia1 is entirely valid and refuted the punishment from the organizers.
However, the one-year competition ban is still in effect, and Dia1 will have to accept sitting out until May 2022. Perhaps still frustrated by his punishment, this player continues to “throw shade” at Mr. V. by changing his nickname.

Another point worth noting is that Dia1’s one-year ban equates to two VCS seasons; however, with the likelihood that the VCS Summer 2021 will not be held, he may only miss one VCS Spring 2022 tournament.
