Armut – The top laner of the reigning LEC champion MAD Lions, is currently one of the most notable phenomena in European League of Legends at this time. Not only is he soaring high with the Madrid lions in the race to defend their title, but Armut himself is also becoming a name expected to be nominated for the tournament’s best lineup.
Recently, during an interview with Korizon, Armut made some very “honest” confessions about the way he maintains his love for League of Legends:

“I once said that the method I use to maintain my enthusiasm and passion for this game is to delete the game.
Actually, that’s not entirely accurate; of course, I have to play practice matches. But I really don’t invest too much thought into solo queue games. I sometimes play 1-2 games (each day), or sometimes I don’t play at all.
My method is to directly delete the game client from my personal computer (I use another machine for practice). After finishing practice sessions to go home, I have more time to think about personal matters or play other games. I listen to music to calm myself and temporarily step away from the League of Legends environment. I don’t watch any matches either. I think that’s good for me. Taking a break helps maintain my passion and creates a sense of nostalgia for this game, then it ignites my drive to win. When you lose motivation to compete (due to boredom), your performance will suffer, and I don’t want to decline in that way. I want to become a top star. And when I adjust my excitement for the game, I will love it again and become full of energy.”

After helping MAD Lions topple the dominance of G2 Esports, Armut and his teammates continued to make the former European champions taste defeat by beating them 3-1 in the recent Summer 2021 LEC Playoffs. Up to this point, MAD has truly been viewed as a powerhouse of European League of Legends, and Armut himself is highly regarded for his consistent performance.
Perhaps that’s why this player’s secret to “maintaining passion for League of Legends” is also a very interesting approach that other players might want to try. Of course, it may not be very suitable for the LPL or LCK environments, where the need to try hard is always prioritized for players, no matter how bored they might feel, they cannot stop playing, if they don’t want to face criticism from fans, similar to what TheShy encountered after being discovered playing only 7 ranked games each week.
