Riot Employee Stuns LoL Players by Claiming: “ADC Should Never Go Bot Lane”

This statement from a Riot analyst raises questions among LoL players about where ADCs should go instead.

For the vast majority of League of Legends players, the ADC champions are always associated with the Bot Lane. The duo of ADC – Support in the Bot Lane has become the standard in LoL and is widely applied at all levels from amateur to professional. However, a Riot Games employee recently left the LoL community stunned by sharing on Twitter that ADCs should never go to the Bot Lane.

Riot Games analyst, who has participated in the production of Senna, Samira, Rell, Viego, Akshan - Blizz: "I have used the term Bot Lane to refer to this position for over 5 years. When people call that position ADC, they limit their own thinking that only one type of champion (ADC) can play in the Bot Lane. In reality, based on the data, ADCs should never go Bot Lane."

Are you suggesting that Mages are better suited for Bot Lane than ADCs, or that certain ADCs are stronger in other lanes? I've seen some data showing Mages are stronger in Bot Lane but not the latter.

So where exactly should ADCs go then?

“ADC should never go Bot Lane”… Okay, so where should they go?
Clearly they should go Jungle then.
Clearly they should go Jungle then.

Indeed, in recent years, the emergence of certain ADC champions shining in other lanes has become common among players. Lucian is a prime example, as he has been a strong pick in mid and top lanes in professional tournaments for many years. Another name worth mentioning is Kalista in the top lane, who once made a significant impact inspired by TheShy.

In recent years, Lucian has often been used in solo lane positions in professional tournaments.

However, the names mentioned above are just special cases where they have superior champion qualities in solo lane positions or possess overwhelming power. Meanwhile, many ADC champions must go with a Support in the Bot Lane to receive protection for safe farming and item progression. If champions like Kog’Maw, Xayah, Ashe… are left alone in solo lane positions, they can easily be taken down quickly due to their low mobility.

Perhaps for Riot Games analyst Blizz, he would look at data such as win rates, gold differences, experience… of ADCs when going solo lane to form the aforementioned opinion. However, a high win rate does not determine that ADC champions fit the lane role. Didn’t TheShy once bring Aphelios and Ashe to the top lane and win many times, but not every player has the skill level of the 2018 World Champion?

TheShy once took Aphelios to the top lane, but that doesn’t mean this champion is no longer suitable for Bot Lane.

Of course, League of Legends champions have become more versatile over the years and the use of Mages and Fighters in the Bot Lane has gradually become more common. However, this does not mean that ADCs lose their place in this position, and the assessment made by the employee is too mechanical and unconvincing at all.
