Teamfight Tactics: Climbing to the Top with the Unique “Mutant Warwick” – Challenger Dominates the Board

The Mutant Warwick playstyle is "strange" but guarantees uniqueness.

A few days ago, patch 11.24b for Teamfight Tactics season 6 was applied. However, as it is a bug fix and nerfs to overly dominant traits like Chemtech, there weren’t too many significant changes overall. But the excessive spam of Chemtech has led to boredom among some TFT players. For those looking to “spice things up”, a unique playstyle centering around Warwick has just been created by combining the Mutant trait with the Mutant champions.

Overview and Operation

The Mutant Warwick – Challenger composition generally ensures a strong attack-defense balance as it features champions like Cho’Gath, Dr. Mundo, and Kai’Sa – all high-quality champions both in terms of damage and defense. Additionally, the Challenger champions will guarantee Warwick a certain attack speed. However, this can be seen as a composition that requires a relatively high financial investment, as most of the necessary pieces are at least 3 gold.

In the early game, the ideal situation is to get Technology Augments that enhance the Mutant trait. Particularly, if you have the Mutant emblem, equip it to Warwick to start focusing your strategy around this champion. Other champions only need defensive items, so this composition doesn’t necessarily require players to fight for damage items – which are quite hard to obtain in the shared selection round, while the monster rounds are too random. The ideal early game composition should be Warwick with the Mutant emblem – Kassadin – Kog’Maw – Camille.

In the mid-game, since damage items will be focused on Warwick, replace Kog’Maw with Malzahar and Kassadin with Cho’Gath. Cho’Gath is the second most important champion in this composition as he adds excellent defensive capabilities. At the same time, players can roll up to 5 – 6 to add more Challengers (Samira, Quinn) to enhance Warwick’s attack speed. Ideally, at this stage, you want to get a 3-star Warwick around round 3 or the beginning of round 4.

In the late game, this is when players need to boost the power of the entire composition and fill in the vacant and low-cost positions with 4 and 5 gold champions. The complete Mutant Warwick – Challenger composition will be: Cho’Gath – Warwick – Malzahar – Dr. Mundo – Kai’Sa – Samira – Yone – Fiora.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths of this composition, as mentioned, lie in its solid attack and defense capabilities, remaining strong across rounds. Additionally, Warwick is a 2-gold champion, making it relatively easy to reach 3 stars. Damage items are primarily used for Warwick and somewhat for Kai’Sa, so players don’t have to compete too much.

However, the weakness of this composition is that most champions needed in the late game are high-cost (except Warwick). Importantly, it is crucial to have the Mutant emblem and the Challenger emblem, so if players do not receive these emblems in the early rounds, they should flexibly switch to other playstyles like pure Challenger or pure Mutant or shift their main focus to champions like Malzahar while saving up to acquire Kai’Sa.

Overall, this is a rather interesting “strange” playstyle that depends on many factors, requiring players to be flexible and, of course, wait for their luck to kick in.
