Faker Rarely Speaks Out About the Gumayusi – T1 Incident

Perhaps in the history of professional League of Legends, there has rarely been an internal drama that seemed simple yet dragged on as long as the T1 – Gumayusi – Smash incident. Since the LCK Cup 2025 began, the situation has shown no signs of a resolution. Recently, internal feedback from T1 was leaked, further stirring the community. It is at this moment that Faker felt compelled to speak out.

Drama continues to surround T1 after the loss to Gen.G.

Specifically, during a recent stream, T1’s mid-laner was asked a question regarding the conflict among team members and the future of Gumayusi. Naturally, Faker responded in the most professional manner possible: “Actually, it’s normal for players to argue after losing a match, as everyone wants to win. Healthy debates can increase unity and lead to victories. As for whether Min-hyung (Gumayusi) will be substituted in the next match, I have no information on that yet.”

This time Faker had to speak out.

This can be seen as one of the rare times Faker has shared about the drama surrounding T1. He is also the only member of the team to speak up in a reassuring manner to fans amidst the controversies regarding T1’s decision to bench Gumayusi.

Will T1 Continue to Spark Controversy in This Important Week of Matches?

This week, T1 will face off against KT Rolster and Hanwha Life Esports. Both opponents are more than capable of giving Faker and his teammates a tough time. Although KT is currently struggling with two consecutive losses, they often spring surprises when not highly regarded. Meanwhile, HLE is the reigning LCK champion.

T1 needs to make reasonable personnel decisions.
T1 needs to make reasonable personnel decisions.

Every personnel decision made by T1 at this moment will first impact the results of these two matches and subsequently affect their journey to secure a spot at MSI 2025. Not to mention, it will also influence the drama and reactions from fans in the future. T1 needs to calculate carefully before inviting more trouble after the recent string of dramas.
