In Teamfight Tactics Season 6.5, it’s quite noticeable that compositions using 4-cost champions are proving to be extremely dominant. Fortunately for the Mutant – Colossus team, Riot has generously added several 4-cost units to better adapt to the meta, making it a solid option for climbing ranks. So, what is the way to build this ‘new’ Mutant – Colossus composition? Let’s find out!

One of the prerequisites for successfully building this team comp is to acquire Cho’Gath early. Regardless of whether this unit comes from the shop or a treasure chest, you should purchase it as soon as you see Cho’Gath appear. Next, you should look to activate the Mutant effect with Rek’Sai and Kassadin early in the game, as these are both cheap, quality units that possess strong skills.

As you progress to the mid-game stage, you can temporarily replace Kassadin with Malzahar, who provides better magic damage. Following that, Swain and Sejuani are both good options, as they offer a strong balance of damage and defense. Additionally, activating the 2 Technology bonus is a considerable advantage to help players secure winning streaks more easily.

At this point, you will have two choices for building your composition depending on the units you currently have. If you can acquire at least 5 one-star versions of Cho’Gath and Malzahar, you should stop at level 7 and reroll to get these two units to three stars. If you can’t acquire many Cho’Gath and Malzahar, then push to level 8 and rely on the new 4-cost units like Kha’Zix or Alistar.
In the late game, the main goal for players will be to upgrade Kha’Zix and Alistar to two stars to ensure both offensive and defensive capabilities for the team. If you can purchase more Cho’Gath or Malzahar, you might aim to level them up to three stars, but you should only choose one of the two since the gold at this point is quite limited.

For hextech upgrades, cores like Unstable Evolution or the Mutant Emblem are extremely good for this composition. Moreover, you can choose the Treasure Planet core to obtain additional treasure chests, increasing the chances of receiving desired 3-cost units like Cho’Gath or Malzahar. Additionally, with the characteristic of using 2 Colossus units, the Regain the Advantage core is also a great upgrade to clinch early victories.
Regarding item builds, Malzahar desperately needs Blue Buff along with 2 items that increase magic damage to continuously cast spells. If you possess the Neural Network effect, this item will make Malzahar even stronger. Additionally, Cho’Gath needs tank items like Thornmail, Dragon Claw… As for Kha’Zix, Infinity Edge is an essential item for this champion.
