On the first match day of week three of the VCS Spring 2022 group stage, GAM Esports faced off against the tough opponent Saigon Buffalo. After a poor performance in the VCS Winter 2021, “The Buffalo Herd” showed clear signs of revival, especially with their jungler BeanJ. However, their opponent this time also had an impressive record: since their loss to SBTC Esports in the SEA Games 31 qualifiers for LoL, GAM has not lost a single match afterwards.

However, GAM proved to be too strong for SGB. Right from game 1, the VCS Winter 2021 runner-up showed absolute dominance. Notably, ADC Sty1e had an outstanding performance. Even when other lanes of GAM were overrun by SGB in game 2, Sty1e remained a reliable hope. In game 3, Sty1e’s Super Rocket Barrages were extremely accurate, and this ADC demonstrated his importance in GAM’s victory over “The Buffalo Herd”.
As for SGB, it’s hard to say they had a good game day. Although they managed to secure one game win, it was largely due to GAM’s overconfidence in the early stages of game 2. Additionally, Hasmed had a game 3 where he “cosplayed” the familiar top lane ADC style of “Top God” TheShy with the champion Vayne, but it was not effective. Hasmed’s Vayne did not contribute anything in the early and middle stages of the game. By the time the late game arrived, he was shut down too quickly without making any impact on GAM.
In the second match that followed, Team Secret, with their full strongest lineup and having regained their form from the VCS Spring 2021, did not allow Burst The Sky Esports to win a single game. The only things SKY managed to do were to give TS some trouble in game 1 and for a short time in game 2. In the end, TS convincingly won 2-0, bringing their record to 2 wins – 2 losses, temporarily placing them 4th on the VCS Spring 2022 leaderboard as of now.
As for GAM, they continue to maintain a good performance in both the VCS Spring 2022 and the SEA Games 31 qualifiers for LoL. With their current momentum, it is very likely that GAM will achieve both goals set for this Spring 2022 season: to become VCS champions and to secure a spot representing Vietnam at the upcoming SEA Games 31.
