The highlight match of the day on March 2 (Vietnam time) was the confrontation between Weibo Gaming and Royal Never Give Up in the group stage of LPL Spring 2022. With their current form, WBG hoped for a victory against the “national team” RNG. Furthermore, after RNG’s unexpected defeat to Rare Atom just a few days ago, WBG fans felt even more confident.

However, the events in the match were completely contrary to the performance of both teams. Right from game 1, RNG showed much more initiative and dominated almost the entire time against the WBG players from the laning phase to team fights and major objective contests. Despite being at a disadvantage, WBG managed to hold on until the mid-game. Unfortunately, once RNG secured the Dragon Soul, everything came to an end. RNG then took the first Baron, the Elder Dragon, and a second Baron. WBG simply accepted defeat, even though Huanfeng tried extremely hard.
If game 1 was Wei’s shining moment, game 2 was the stage for Gnar in the hands of former player Bin. In his reunion with his former team and the teammates he fought with in the 2020 World Championship finals, Bin made SofM and his former friends suffer. He even turned TheShy and the entire WBG team into literal “ATM” machines as SofM and his teammates continuously fell in team fights, whether they were in an advantageous or disadvantageous position. With too many advantages, victory came easily for RNG.
This defeat will only slightly affect WBG’s position in the standings, but more importantly, it shows that SofM and his teammates still have many issues to resolve before heading into the playoffs. As for Bin and RNG, they had a fantastic day of play. When Bin can play tank champions, he has given RNG fans and his teammates more options and a brighter path ahead in their quest for titles this season.
