T1 will have a chance to meet Gen.G Esports again in the second round of the LCK Spring 2022 group stage. Currently, Faker and his teammates are on the longest unbeaten streak among the four Major leagues this Spring, with 12 consecutive victories. Meanwhile, Gen.G is also eager to stop T1’s impressive record. However, Gen.G’s plans went awry when Ruler – the main ADC of Gen.G had to take a break due to testing positive for Covid-19.

However, game 1 of the match showed how much Gen.G could struggle without their best lineup against T1. The substitute brought in – Ophelia performed well, but he couldn’t match the strongest bot lane duo in the League of Legends scene right now. Moreover, Faker had an excellent day with his signature champion LeBlanc. The “Demon King” ganked, pushed lanes, and engaged in team fights with great effectiveness. T1’s combos were executed flawlessly, and one by one, Gen.G’s members fell. T1 easily took game 1 in this Super Classic match.
Moving on to game 2, Gen.G made many changes in both gameplay and champion picks. Especially with the “strange” picks of Yone from Chovy and Viktor in the bot lane from Ophelia. In fact, Gen.G created a lot of difficulties for Faker and his teammates. Chovy’s ability to “farm minions” made Yone in his hands extremely troublesome. But on T1’s side, there was Zeus with Jayce. On an outstanding day, Zeus helped T1 balance the match with his Lightning Strike hitting Gen.G’s members directly. Chovy and his team managed to secure the Earth Dragon Soul, but T1 took both Barons and the game.
With this victory, Faker and his teammates extended their unbeaten streak to 13 and are now just one win away from matching SKT T1’s record from the Summer of 2015. Additionally, this win also shows that in T1, it’s not just Faker or Gumayusi – Keria who can shine. Ordinary silent players like Zeus can also suddenly become heroes.
Furthermore, in the match against Gen.G, Faker also reached another milestone in his illustrious career: 2500 kills solely in the LCK. Faker is also the first player in the history of the highest level League of Legends tournament in Korea to achieve this milestone.

It’s unfortunate for Gen.G that just before this spotlight match, they did not have their strongest lineup. But with this performance, fans are certainly looking forward to the playoffs, where Gen.G will have the chance to rematch T1 with their full strength.
