On the afternoon of March 3rd (Vietnam time), the match between T1 and Gen.G Esports took place. With both teams chasing each other on the leaderboard, plus Faker and his teammates boasting an unbeaten streak of 12 consecutive matches, this match was considered the “Super Classic” of LCK Spring 2022. Fans and players from Gen.G were not only hoping to end T1’s winning streak but also looking forward to avenging their devastating defeat in the first round due to the impact of Covid-19.

Unfortunately for Gen.G, on a day when Ruler could not play due to testing positive for Covid-19, Gen.G had to accept defeat against Faker’s T1 once again. Although Chovy still farmed effectively, Faker and especially young top laner Zeus had an outstanding performance. Thanks to this duo, even on a day when Gumayusi was somewhat “quiet”, T1 completely annihilated Gen.G.
The League of Legends community naturally showered T1 with praise after their victory over Gen.G. Most attention was focused on young player Zeus, who demonstrated extremely impressive performance and incredible composure, even against a seasoned top laner like Doran.

Besides the praises for Zeus, League of Legends fans also took the opportunity to poke fun at Faker’s Ryze, demanding that the LCK organizers “immediately grant” MVP status to Faker with his Ryze in game 2. For those who don’t know, even though it’s his “signature champion” that he has used extensively in the past, Ryze from Faker had a… 0% win rate in this LCK Spring season until the match against Gen.G.

Additionally, there were also numerous opinions suggesting that Gen.G performed quite well despite not having their strongest lineup and expressed sympathy for this team’s “bad luck” whenever preparing to face T1. However, most fans also admitted that whether Ruler was present or not, the result might not have changed significantly.

With the victory over Gen.G, Faker and his teammates extended their winning streak to 13 matches and are closing in on the 14-match winning streak set by SKT T1 back in Summer 2015. If they maintain this level of play, Faker and his teammates not only have the chance to break records in the history of the team but also the opportunity to become one of the most perfect champions in LCK history.
