The first semifinal match of the 2022 LCK Spring was between T1 and Kwangdong Freecs. Given the strength of both teams and their performances throughout the season, not many expected a victory for KDF. For the League of Legends community, the focus was on how T1 would defeat their opponents to set the stage for the match against DWG KIA/Gen.G Esports – the two teams that will face off in the other semifinal of the 2022 LCK Spring.

Therefore, throughout the BO5 match, the game was almost entirely one-sided, completely dominated by T1. In games 1 and 2, it felt more like practice sessions for Faker and his teammates to prepare for the finals. KDF couldn’t do much against a team nearing perfection in the current League of Legends scene. Two overwhelming victories clearly demonstrated the power gap between T1 and KDF.
In game 3, KDF finally showed some positive changes in their gameplay. It was expected that Teddy and his teammates, during their third encounter with their former team in the 2022 LCK Spring, would at least secure one win, but T1 said no. In the first Baron fight, despite being outnumbered, T1 still showcased their skill gap in a 3v5 situation. With Baron, Faker and his team gradually destroyed KDF and calmly secured a 3-0 victory in the first semifinal of the 2022 LCK Spring.
With this victory, T1 achieved all their set goals: a win, without expending too much effort, and possibly without revealing any critical strategies. Moreover, with the devastating power they displayed, T1 also put pressure on DK and Gen.G – the two teams in the other semifinal. Because, defeating Faker and his team now seems like an incredibly challenging task for any team.
