On the afternoon of Saturday, April 2nd (Vietnam time), the LCK Spring 2022 Finals will officially kick off with a showdown between T1 and Gen.G Esports. These two teams ranked 1st and 2nd in the LCK Spring 2022 group stage, respectively. Notably, T1 holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak in League of Legends history with 19 matches. Meanwhile, Gen.G boasts their strongest lineup and is ready to challenge Faker and his teammates.

The upcoming finals, regardless of their significance to each team, will be a historic match. Both teams have been away from the LCK championship trophy for too long. For T1, the last time they won an LCK title was in Spring 2020, making it exactly two years. As for Gen.G, they have continuously “fallen at the doorstep of heaven,” with their most recent heartbreak being the LCK Spring 2021 finals against DWG KIA.

It can be said that T1 and Gen.G have never been closer to winning the LCK championship than they are now. T1 possesses a roster nearing perfection, despite featuring all young names. Meanwhile, Gen.G is comprised of the all-star lineup of LCK Spring this year. However, perhaps Chovy and his teammates were a bit unlucky as they did not have their best roster in both encounters against T1 during the group stage due to COVID-19 impacts.
Currently, Gen.G enters the LCK Spring 2022 finals with their strongest lineup, and undoubtedly, the Gen.G players are eager to secure their first championship in the team’s history as well as for the four members Doran, Chovy, Ruler, and Lehends (Peanut has previously won the LCK with SKT T1). Recently, AD Carry Ruler expressed his confidence by revealing the scrim results against T1: “We have scrimmed with them a lot. Overall, it’s just 50-50. They didn’t dominate us as much as people think, and I believe we definitely have a chance to win.”

Of course, scrim results cannot fully reflect the true strength of a team. However, it is clear that Gen.G has grounds to be confident, even though they often stumble at crucial moments. The upcoming finals promise to be very exciting and dramatic, and regardless of which team wins, it will mark a new chapter in LCK history and League of Legends as a whole.
