In the match on April 24th as part of the VCS Spring 2022, GAM Esports defeated Saigon Buffalo to claim the championship with an unbeaten record. Not only that, but the GAM players also displayed an incredibly dominating performance despite SGB not being a weak opponent. However, with their national duty at SEA Games 31, GAM will not be able to participate in MSI 2022 in Busan, South Korea next May. SGB will represent Vietnam and be in the same group as the “undefeated god” of LCK – T1.

Nevertheless, the matches between GAM and SGB left a significant impression. With most leagues having concluded and VCS always showcasing its fiery spirit, the recent finals also garnered much attention from the League of Legends community. True to the expectations of both VCS fans and international friends, despite a dominant victory of 3-1, the match between GAM and SGB was still full of excitement and drama, with the better team emerging victorious.
The League of Legends community had mixed feelings watching this match. On one side, there was regret that the “invincible champion” of VCS could not face T1 at MSI 2022. On the other hand, some believe that whether VCS can break into the top 6 and achieve a higher position still depends on surprises from SGB. But one undeniable truth remains: VCS is always fiercely competitive. The evidence is the 151 kills from both teams in just 132 minutes of total gameplay across 4 games. This means an average of a kill every 0.8 minutes.

Additionally, there are concerns regarding SGB’s bot lane, which did not perform well in the finals as Shogun seemed to struggle in his first-ever finals match. The community believes that SGB’s bot lane needs to improve their mentality and resilience, as Gumayusi and Keria from T1 are currently considered one of the strongest bot lanes in the world, both in skill and mentality.

But still, GAM has convincingly won, and SGB’s participation in MSI 2022 is not just due to luck. The VCS community undoubtedly hopes both teams, in the tournaments they participate in, will give their best and bring glory to Vietnamese League of Legends.
