The Irony of T1 and Gumayusi
T1’s loss to Gen.G concluded a rather unfortunate Week 7 of competition. Although it doesn’t significantly impact the standings of both teams and isn’t a “disaster” for T1, a victory would have been a huge boost for Faker and his teammates before their clash with HLE. However, an even more unfortunate detail is that this was a match where T1 lost despite Gumayusi’s impressive performance.

Especially in the first game, Gumayusi’s excellent positioning helped T1 consistently win team fights. In both games, he managed to go even or even defeat the experienced veteran Ruler in lane. If it weren’t for Canyon’s outstanding plays or the proactive moves from Chovy – Kiin, as well as Faker’s accuracy, T1 might not have suffered a clean sweep against Gen.G in this “Classic” of the LCK.

A viewer candidly commented: “Perhaps Gumayusi will not receive any POM (Player of the Match) awards. Because whenever he plays well, his teammates seem to choke against the opponents.” Meanwhile, another viewer expressed regret for the 2002-born AD Carry’s performance: “It’s a pity for Gumayusi because he tried so hard in both games and was the only one who showed synergy with Keria. It’s just that the gap between Mid and Jungle was too large.”

But T1 and Gumayusi Have Given Fans More Hope
The performance against Gen.G certainly wasn’t T1’s best, but it showed their fans that T1 can compete equally with any strong opponent. The journey to MSI 2025 and the remaining titles this year is still not over for T1.
Gumayusi himself has had a challenging season, but so far, he is still performing well. The showings of the two-time World Champion AD Carry could be the foundation for T1 to go far this year if the surrounding players perform up to their capabilities and form.
