The Most Popular Champion in Worlds History

As of before Worlds 2025, the League of Legends community has experienced a total of 14 Worlds tournaments, and despite some objective reasons, this tournament has never been suspended or canceled. Throughout the history of Worlds, many champions have appeared, used more or less depending on teams and the meta, but according to the latest statistics from OTP LoL, Lee Sin is the most used champion in Worlds history. However, this champion has quite a… peculiar fate.

Specifically, Lee Sin is always seen as one of the champions that are “outside the meta.” It must be clearly noted that “outside the meta” does not mean “out of meta”; in fact, Lee Sin belongs to the group of champions that are not affected by the meta and for many years has received almost no changes from Riot. His skill set remains the same, and throughout a domestic year, there were times when Lee Sin was even not used in matchups with extreme skill level disparities or when players had become too proficient with this champion.

This champion also has a very high potential for making impactful plays.

However, every Worlds season, Lee Sin tends to appear more frequently. In the recent ASI 2025 tournament, as well as in the playoffs of various regions before that, due to the Fearless Draft mechanism and certain match requirements, Lee Sin has seen a resurgence. With his high potential for impactful plays, he is likely to be a highly contested pick at the upcoming Worlds. For those who may not know, Lee Sin also boasts the most Worlds skins, with three skins from Bengi, Tian, and most recently Oner.

Besides Lee Sin, the other names on the list are also well-known champions that have been widely used in recent seasons, namely Rakan, Orianna, Kai’Sa, and Gragas. Except for Gragas, these are all power picks with high impact potential. It is expected that these champions will also frequently appear at the upcoming Worlds, especially in the crucial stages of BO3 and BO5 matches.
