Olaf – Diana
In the latter half of patch 12.11, the composition revolving around the duo of Olaf and Diana was considered the strongest as they provided too much damage for players. When combining these two champions with systems that offer tankiness like Brawlers and Guardians, opponents have almost no effective way to quickly take them down. It can be said that Olaf with the Assassin emblem was a real nightmare for Teamfight Tactics players in the previous patch.

However, in patch 12.12, both Olaf, Diana, and their supporting champions have been nerfed significantly. As a result, the duo’s damage output and ability to dominate opponents have decreased considerably, and they are now easier to take down. According to the assessment from the number one Challenger in Korea – Bebe872, this nerf has completely “nerfed” Diana before she could reach 3 stars, while Olaf is no longer as resilient as before.
Mages
If you have been playing the Mage composition long enough, you will know that its two main stars are Ryze and Sylas. Ryze serves as the main damage dealer in the backline while Sylas acts as the main tank with an extremely large shield generation ability. However, in patch 12.12, Ryze’s damage has been considerably reduced, and Sylas’s shield generation ability has similarly suffered. Even with a slight buff in patch 12.12b, this champion still appears quite weak.

In fact, in his comments about the new patch, Bebe872 did not hesitate to say that the current Mage composition is too weak. He also does not encourage players to use the Mage composition as it can easily cause you to lose ranking points at this time. The only situation where Bebe872 thinks Mages could be viable is if you possess 2 Mage core items and the Guardian of the Celestial, as they will ensure the main damage dealer reaches 3 stars and deals significant damage without fear of being controlled.
6 Dragonlords
Although in patch 12.12, the Dragonlord trait has received a considerable buff with a higher chance of upgrading the composition to 3 stars, Bebe872 still rates this composition quite low. According to Bebe872, Varus’s ultimate is currently facing many bugs, which significantly reduces the champion’s crowd control and damage capabilities. This will be extremely evident in a composition with many Dragonlords since Varus is the only main carry before you find Aurelion Sol.

Therefore, the advice here is you should never use more than 3 Dragonlords at any time. Doing so only wastes positions in your composition while having an extremely low effectiveness. Players need to remember that Varus heavily relies on the 4 Marksman trait to stack Guinsoo’s Rageblade as quickly as possible. Moreover, the significant damage from Xayah will help somewhat mitigate the weaknesses of Varus’s buggy ultimate.
