Teamfight Tactics: Decoding the Mysterious Mechanism of the Dragon’s Seal

Many Teamfight Tactics players have been misled into thinking that using the Dragon's Seal guarantees a 5-cost 3-star champion.

In Teamfight Tactics season 7, the Dragon tribe is quite special with effects that increase the appearance rate of champions and help players easily upgrade their team. When you give the Dragon’s Seal to any champion (usually a 5-cost champion), it can also appear in the Dragon shop.

Therefore, recently, many videos on social media have surfaced claiming that having the Dragon’s Seal guarantees obtaining powerful 5-cost 3-star champions like Pyke, Zoe, Bard, Soraka… This has led many players to believe and follow through, regardless of the game situation, resulting in some unfortunate losses. So, what is the mysterious mechanism behind the Dragon’s Seal? Let’s find out.

Using the Dragon's Seal is not as easy as we think

According to Riot Mortdog, the director of Teamfight Tactics, the shop will rotate the number of Dragon champions that are guaranteed to appear in this special shop, ranging from 3 to 5 champions. For each Dragon champion that is guaranteed to appear, its rate will depend on the actual shop rate at the level you are currently at. If there is at least 1 Dragon champion at that price point, it will appear; if not, the shop will rotate many times until it skips providing Dragon champions for you.

It is worth noting that if you use the Dragon’s Seal on a 5-cost champion, its appearance rate in the Dragon shop is also very low. The Dragon shop only guarantees that when a 5-cost champion appears, it is indeed the champion you need; it does not guarantee that you will always obtain that champion.

Even with a champion that can increase the chance of obtaining a 5-cost champion like Bard, Mortdog still couldn't level up to 3 stars, making it even harder for ordinary 5-cost champions

Therefore, if you want to use the Dragon’s Seal to seek a 5-cost 3-star champion, you need to be at least level 8. Additionally, the opportunity to obtain the Dragon’s Seal is already very low, making it nearly impossible to use it as a stable rank climbing strategy. Perhaps this item is only suitable for “show-off” plays rather than having high practical combat value.
