Teamfight Tactics: Breaking the Meta with the New Composition ‘Cannoneer – Guardian’

Cannoneer - Guardian is highly regarded by many top players as the strongest composition in Teamfight Tactics.

Since the 12.13 patch was released, compositions revolving around Dragonmancer have become quite popular as the key champions of this trait have been buffed. As a result, having 2-3 players using Dragonmancer in a match is increasingly common in Teamfight Tactics, leading to fierce competition for these champions.

If you are tired of competing for carries with others, the Cannoneer – Guardian composition is an excellent choice. This is because most carries in this composition cost 2 gold and are not currently contested. Furthermore, being able to pivot at level 6 to seek a 3-star Tristana means this composition can be strong right in the mid-game.

In the early game, you should aim to have Tristana and Heimerdinger to achieve 2 Dragonmancer early on, which will supplement damage and tankiness with Nomsy. For the frontline, you can choose between 2 Brawlers (Tahm Kench, Skarner) or 2 Guardians (Leona, Taric). If you get Braum early, you should use the Guardian.

As you enter the mid-game, you should add Jinx and Lulu to increase Tristana’s damage output and speed up Nomsy’s level progression. The advice is to stay at level 6 as long as possible to pivot for 3-star Tristana and Braum. These two champions are your primary sources of damage and tankiness in the mid and late game.

After acquiring 3-star Braum and Tristana, you will need to level up to level 8 quickly and complete your composition with Corki and Sona. They will activate crucial power spikes like 3 Cannoneers or 2 Sorcerers, significantly increasing damage and crowd control for your composition. If you can’t find Sona, you may use Senna with the 4 Cannoneers setup.

The best tech core for this composition is the Fire Cannon and Cannoneer Emblem. These will provide a significant boost in damage for your carries in the mid-game. Additionally, the Combat Training core is also very strong with this composition as Tristana can stack damage very quickly.

For items, the main carry Tristana will need Guinsoo’s Rageblade and Giant Slayer. For the third item, you can assemble a Quicksilver if the opponents have strong crowd control or add more damage items. The main tank Braum will still use basic items like Warmog’s Armor, Dragon’s Claw, Thornmail, or Guardian Angel.
