Recently, Riot officially introduced a new line of skins for champions from Yordle to the League of Legends (LoL) community. This skin line is called Beastmaster, featuring a matching skin for Veigar and Lulu. The champion Kog’Maw will also be included in this new skin line with the name Kog’Maw Mini Monster.

However, the newly launched skin line immediately reminded the community of the legendary Pokémon brand that has been associated with many generations of children and adults worldwide. In fact, in the background image of Lulu Beastmaster, the actions of Lulu alongside Kog’Maw Mini Monster look remarkably similar to those of Ash Ketchum with Pikachu in Pokémon.

– “Kog’Maw! Thunderbolt 100,000 Volts!”
– “Lulu Ash. Kog’Maw Pikachu”
– “Kog’Maw, I choose you!”
However, some members of the community believe this skin line was announced by Riot some time ago. Specifically, there were images revealing that a skin line named Beastmaster would be launched, with champions Ezreal and Janna included. The only problem is, these two champions are still absent from the new skin line.

What many are complaining about is Riot’s apparent laziness in designing the skins’ backgrounds. The background images for Lulu Beastmaster and Kog’Maw Mini Monster look no different from… Dragon Trainer Tristana. In fact, one could say they are nearly identical if Lulu Beastmaster’s hairstyle and color were changed and Kog’Maw’s image was replaced with a dragon.

Although it is possible that in the future, Riot will continue to release new skins under the Beastmaster line, it can be said that the initial names have not truly made a lasting impression on players. But nonetheless, this is a move by Riot that shows they genuinely care about some champions that have long been without new skins. However, it seems the design team at Riot truly needs to make more impactful and distinctive changes to avoid the suspicion of “laziness” or the situation of “old wine in new bottles.”
