Just a few hours ago, the first group of the World Championship (Worlds) 2022 – Group A, has concluded with results that were not very surprising. The two teams advancing are T1 and EDward Gaming. The first two teams to bid farewell to Worlds 2022 after the Group Stage are Fnatic and Cloud9 – representatives of LEC (Europe) and LCS (North America) respectively. Notably, C9 is the champion of LCS Summer 2022 recently.

Notably, T1 has demonstrated its overwhelming strength compared to the rest of the group. In the first round, Faker and his teammates left many doubts after stumbling against FNC. However, this was not repeated in the second round. T1 not only easily demolished FNC and C9 but also achieved a clean sweep against EDG – the 2021 Worlds champion with an extremely dominant performance. In both of these matches, EDG’s Top Laner Flandre could not withstand T1’s Zeus.

With the top position in the Group Stage of Worlds 2022, T1 has established an “unprecedented” milestone in the history of this tournament. Specifically, T1 is the only team to have topped the group in every Worlds they have participated in so far. Whether in their debut at the biggest international stage of League of Legends (2013) or with a new young lineup (2022), T1 continues to prove their caliber.

Additionally, in the second round, specifically during the match against FNC, Faker achieved a milestone of 350 kills throughout his career, specifically in all Worlds tournaments. Thus, Faker has broken the previous record held by Uzi and has become the player with the most kills in the history of Worlds.

However, the Group Stage is just the beginning. Coming up, T1 will face many strong opponents in the knockout rounds. The T1 players themselves must maintain focus and peak performance to keep their hopes alive for the 2022 Worlds championship.
